I'm almost hesitant to post some of these FRs. They're kind of depressing. Yikes. Good news is that I have some Day2s coming up that I scheduled last week, but damn I'm reading my own FRs and *Ouch*. But you know what... I promised a FR per day...

P.S. Obe, Toymachine, Johnnie Wolf, Quality, Albert... anyone... please post some success stories FRs.

09/09/07 – Sunday – Daygame / Union Square

Set 1: Vietnamese8
I see a Vietnamese8 at Starbucks. After 10 minutes of hesitancy...

Me: Do you go to Stern?
Her: No, I go to law school. I'm a 2nd year law student.
Me: Oh really? I thought you were a freshman at Stern.
Her: *laughs*
Me: Do you know ___ ____? She went to Berkeley with me.
Her: Yeah, I do.
*Conversation stalls...*
-->
What should've happened is this.

I should've said

Me: Oh really? I thought you were a freshman at Stern. I'm a senior at Stern. Nice to meet you.
Her: Nice to meet you, too.
Me: Where are you from?
Her: Blah blah blah...

That one moment of hesistancy and stall... I lost it.

Oh well. Pat on the back for trying...

Set 2: Polish7

I'm at Union Square w/ Warren. A very cute Polish girl is sitting next to me. I open with something like "Hey, do you go to NYU?" Some banter, some plowing. Finds out shes waiting for her boyfriend that she met 3 weeks ago. She's only in NYC for one more month, so I decide to go for the number close. But she doesn't give. I offer her my number. Nothing. Oh well.

09/10/07 – Monday – Going out solo and coming back home with nothing.

Man, my FRs are getting kind of sad. After getting flaked on by a wing, I decide to go out solo. I hit up 2 venues, but no sets at all, and I just end up coming home...

09/11/07 – Tuesday – Passing by Sets... Obsessing over Sets... and Union Square Sympathy Cheek Kiss-Close

I notice myself stalling and vulturing. I'm not following my 3-second rule. I probably passed up about 2-3 possible good sets today at school.

So I was feeling pretty miserable, so I knew I had to go out. The worse I feel, the more I have to go out.

I go to UnionSquare and open a 32-year-old6.5 who I thought was 22. We talk for a while. I end up being an emotional tamp-on, but she leaves and gives me a kiss on the cheek. I guess I'm a nice guy.

I approach another set but she ignores. She looked drunk and miserable. It's 1:55 AM right now and it's pretty awesome that I have Internet at the park. I'm waiting for Warren. He was supposed to be here an hour ago. Yes, I brought my laptop with me in a business bag.

I'm no expert in picking up girls but one thing I did learn the hard way is never give out my number. If the girl doesn't offer her number to you it's best to eject than offering a number.

Maybe sometimes you may have to slow it down it bit. Kind of like anything in life. I know this may sound like the anti-playboy life style but if you feel like your hitting a wall or tired take a day off. Re-group and re-focus. Sometimes being too focus you lose sight on other things.

I know that's what I'm doing now. I had a cold the past days and didn't feel 100 % . Once I'm fit I go back to the basic.

Now when you say "no sets at all, do you mean there were no sets or the sets you opened up weren't fruitful?

Sorry to hear that. When people complain, I agree with them and try to do 2 things.
1 - Redirect. Agree w/ them and immediately change the subject to non emotional.
2 - Agree with them and portray them as a victim. "Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's awful. I'd be really upset if that happened to me and you're holding up pretty good."

Yo YC,

Thanks for the great feedback, especially the line, "Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's awful. I'd be really upset if that happened to me and you're holding up pretty good."

The "You're holding up pretty good." is a simple, yet very effective and empowering line that I will say.

Hope all is well in LA.
