Developing a sense of humor is a "game" of it's own in my personal opinion. If you're looking to be really objective about it, I'd say take an improv comedy class. If you really look closely at comedy, it's not neccesarily the jokes that make someone funny, but rather, the character. Take Brian from PUA2, he was the highlight of the show because he was so damn funny. It wasn't the jokes he made, as a matter fact he didn't make that many jokes, it was his character. Or take Joker from Dark Knight, or Barney Stinson from how I met your mother, granted Barney makes jokes, but it's his character idiosyncrasies that make him hilarious.

I definitely agree on the spontaneous aspect of humor.

Take an Improv class, it is the easiest way to get out of your shell and be funny.

Living in Thailand I realized that being a fob, or having English be a second language doesn't mean you can't be funny. I am always surprised how funny local Thai guys are despite not speaking good english.

Here’s some steps from a Comedian’s perspective on how to strengthen your sense of humor. I wouldn’t say they’re in chronological order. I won’t promise they’re applicable to everyone or a guaranteed success. Just know they’ve been field tested and helped someone who makes a living doing comedy.

1. Be true to what makes you laugh.
Whatever you find funny isn’t right or wrong – it’s just your personal taste. So get rid of any notion that you must change what you like or pretend to laugh at things just to fit in better during conversations.

2. Make a list
Write down all of your favorite comedians, comedy films, comedy shows, jokes and random things you’ve laughed at. Look for similarities between them. Do they all involve physical comedy? Are the jokes vulgar or censored? Do the comedians do a lot of voices/dialects or impersonations?

Now go and watch material by them. Try mimicking them. Apply their style to your own conversations with family, friends, coworkers, and girls.

3. Take a class
Improv is a common choice because it helps increase your versatility. Standup Comedy, although less common of a choice, would be substantially helpful. Any class that has the word “comedy” should help you shape your humor.

4. Learn to resist
Some people don’t know how to let off the throttle when they are on a roll with multiple jokes. This is risky, especially during sets, because you do not want to become the clown they only come to for amusement.

5. See the multiple meanings
Let yourself recognize all of the comments and questions spoken by others when there is an opportunity to take their words out of context. Even if you start out with corny or cliché responses, you’ll still be learning how to be a smart-ass and that is a very helpful tool for making women laugh.

6. Check out this thread I posted: http://www.abcsofattraction.com/community/the-war-room-f34/writing-your-own-jokes-made-easy-t5928.html

7. Remember this isn’t part of sarging
….it’s part of you! Your humor isn’t a light switch you only flick on when women are around. Learn to enjoy your sense of humor 24/7 around EVERYONE in your life. The world is your audience.

I have to agree with taking improv classes. I only find time to check out one drop-in improv class. Sucks my work schedule has me travel out of town often.

I can tell you that. Improv class trains PUAs...they run drills on each other like the ones we run in BCs. I'll def find time to take a series of classes in the future.

Yeah,my humor seems to come randomly. Sometimes I'm a interesting guy attacting some attention. But sometimes I'm blank in the brain and can't say even a word out. It relies much on my mood at that time.

Can you tell me some material to train myself systematically? Of course,Chinese is perferred......
