Los Angeles Bootcamp, 6/20/08
When our new bootcamp students filed into the conference room, I could see looks of hopefulness, anxiety, curiosity, uncertainty, and lots of positive anticipation. Throughout the day 1 bootcamp exercises, I could see lots of beta-male archetypes coming out of the woodwork:
* man with lots of social anxiety * man who is uncomfortable talking to women * man who lacks self-confidence
However, only a few hours later, I was very proud to see our students break through these barriers and achieve their goals.
We went to one of the hottest night clubs in LA. Lots of hotties. Lots of hired dancers. Lots of loud music. Lots of distractions. It is a very difficult environment to appraoch in.
One transformation I am particularly proud of is in one student, DC505.
DC505 had the following factors working against him:
1. he's young 2. he's never been to a nightclub before 3. he came into the bootcamp with VERY high approach anxiety 4. he has a myriad of nervous twitches (unnecessary hand gestiulations, facial and head twitches, arm twitches, shoulder twitches)
Throughout the course of our day 1 workshop, I could see DC's approach anxiety, body language, and nervous ticks become more and more manageable.
When we got out into the field, DC's approach anxiety remained at that manageable level for the initial part of the evening, and later got higher as the evening went on. But what I would like to point out here is that DC was able to do a TON of things that he never did in his life before:
1. approach 20+ sets of girls in a nightclub 2. become aware of nervous ticks while talking to girls 3. become aware of the fact that his nervous ticks become more amplified when he is talking to increasingly hotter girls
Some may look at this situation and may think self-defeating things like "oh, well, uh... he didn't get to kiss a girl.... uh.... he didn't get a same night lay... etc., etc.," But what surprises the fuck out of me at each bootcamp is the transformation that I see within the individual. Each person must hold himself to a standard that is specific to his own experience; his own situation in life. And in the case of DC505, I see his accomplishments as major breakthroughs. There is nothing more fulfilling for an ABCs of Attraction Coach than to see a student break through barriers that he's never broken for himself before. He has accomplished, in one evening, more 1st time experiences with women than he has accomplished in his entire life. Seeing these kind of transformations in our students brings me inspiration.
