Due to a blizzard up here with closed airport, the bootcamp had to be delayed a week. As a result, we lost a guy who had planned on coming down from Vancouver and were down to only 2 attendees. This was of course fantastic for us, because it meant that Gareth could really practice some routines and kino techniques with us in greater detail.

The other attendee (whose name I won't give in the improbable event that he might mind) was a super-cool guy slightly younger than myself (I'm 54) and a quite different personality type, but I feel like we also had started to become friends by the end of the weekend. One of the first concerns I brought up to Gareth was the age question. His answer: How old is Hugh Hefner? And: Is there any woman on the planet who wouldn't sleep with Sean Connery (now 81, as I look it up on Wikipedia)? Ok, well, I thought, these are special cases, but the weekend definitely proved Gareth right.

The first night we worked mainly on A with, if I remember correctly, maybe just a little bit of B. We talked a lot about body language, worked on our smiles, and practiced turning a woman. Then we applied our exercises later that night when we went into the field at a club in Belltown (no dance floor and easy to talk at this one because the music wasn't overpowering). Gareth made a number of observations about my mannerisms and attitude that I didn't particularly want to hear, but which I needed to hear in order to progress toward changing them. Anyhow, the goal here was just to start a conversation with 10 different women. We went way beyond that, but it definitely required an attitude adjustment for me to get there. The other attendee even succeeded in getting some numbers, whereas I often felt a bit lost but still forced myself to introduce myself to as many women as possible. We had both talked to almost every woman in the place by the end of the evening.

Saturday night was more challenging but also much more rewarding and turned out to be great fun! Before going out Gareth talked to us mainly about C and D. We each developed one DHV story, we worked on some kino escalation, and we worked on some techniques for getting phone numbers. We also reviewed and critiqued behavior from the previous evening. Our goal for the evening was to kiss close once and to get 2 phone numbers. Both of us made it on the numbers but not on the kiss close--stupidly, I might add, as the opportunity was clearly there. We paid to reserve a table upstairs at a great dance club in Pioneer Square so that we would have a place to isolate. This technique worked like a charm. I quickly brought back probably the 2 hottest women in the club, one a gorgeous tall blonde and the other a beautiful Asian woman who had just finished college on the East Coast. I didn't manage to hang onto the Asian woman simply due to not being sufficiently entertaining (I really need to work up a bunch of good DHV stories and have also, as Gareth suggested, found an improv class which unfortunately doesn't start until mid-April). So, back out into the field! I talked to a few women (this wasn't such a problem now after night 1) and then saw a cute brunette upstairs but not at our table, and, despite my awkwardness, we hit it off quite well. I number closed, and I'll be really surprised if we don't hook up this week.

On Sunday we again reviewed and also talked about how to organize a date to have the desired result--breaking down and discussing each step between calling her up and having great sex.

Gareth presents so much material in the bootcamp that I'm going to have to spend some time to digest it, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted any of the material to be left out. For me, I learned to identify my biggest problems--thanks to Gareth's excellent observational skills and honesty. And I also feel like I made a lot of progress toward correcting them. Gareth also put us in touch with some of his former students here in town. So, I'm looking forward to practicing what we learned as much as possible in the coming weeks.
