Hey all. I've signed up for the SF bootcamp for the 6/17-6/19 weekend and had some questions. I hope someone can clarify.
I noticed the address listed is in Oakland and not knowing the area since I'm flying in from NYC, I had some questions.
Should I rent a car from the airport or is it better to cab it around the area? Is there a specific area or clubs/bars/lounges in SF we'll be exploring and should the hotel be closer to that for logistic purposes? If so, what's a good hotel to stay in? I saw that the Hilton near Union Square was listed as a pretty nice place ($160/night). Is anyone else flying in from another place and do you want to share cabs/car rental/etc?
I'm planning to fly in Thursday and stay until Monday evening or Tuesday midday.
Thanks in advance for your help!

The lecture will be held in Oakland but our infield portion of bootcamp will be in San Francisco. It will probably be in your best interest to rent a car, especially since your coming a little earlier. That way you have a chance to explore the area if you wish to do so. There is also the possiblitly of venue changes during your infield portion so having a car will be handy.
As far as hotels go, that's up to you. Its probably convenient to have a hotel somewhere near downtown San Francisco IF you plan on getting laid during the bootcamp. But I also want you to keep in mind that lecture and debriefing will be in Oakland. If you want to make the drive back to SF after debriefing that is entirely up to you, but you will most likely be very tired. Also, there is a toll fee ($5) for everytime you enter SF from Oakland.
I will be one of the coaches for this bootcamp and will be glad to answer anymore questions.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Mike.
So I can compare hotels, what is considered SF downtown? Are there a few venues you could list we might visit so I can try to find a convenient hotel to those? Alternatively, what's a hotel in Oakland you'd suggest (unfortunately I've only heard stories of the rough neighborhoods in Oakland so I'm trying to find a safe place)? Is there parking at or near the Oakland site where the lecture is held?
I may drive back and forth from SF to Oakland if it's a reasonable drive (<30 mins) but I'm not sure what kind of traffic I'd be facing.
Sorry for the many questions since I'm not familiar with the area. Is there a contact number for you or someone else if we have issues with getting into the lecture site?

Downtown SF is Union Square area. You should check Priceline.com or Hotels.com to see if you can get a good rate.
I'll give you a list of possible venues in SF but I can't make any guarantees that we will be going to any or all on the list. The following is a brief list of possible venues:
Ruby Skye, Slide, Roe, Matrix, Supperclub, Cellar, Parlor, Temple, Vessel, Bubble Lounge, Ambassador, Infusion
In regards to a hotel in Oakland, there are a couple Marriott's in the downtown Oakland area which is about 5-7 minute drive to the lecture area. Downtown Oakland is an okay area if you stay within a short distance of the hotel, you're good. Again, you might wanna try going on Priceline.com or Hotels.com for a good rate.
And, yes, there is parking near the lecture site and is also in a good part of Oakland.
