Peacocking...you either love it or hate it.

I clearly remember when I first became curious in the community after reading "The Game" several years ago: The strongest impression that I had of the community was how kick ass it was to fearlessly approach and seduce hot women and finally be able to sleep with them. The second strongest impression was how incredibly outrageous and clownish the old school gurus dressed. Sure, cowboy hats, aviator goggles, and boa scarves may have worked for them. But not everyone wishes to dress like that! I sure as hell don't. This series of short articles will address the needs of those gentlemen who wish to catch the attention of beautiful intelligent ladies yet do not believe that the "traditional" way of peacocking would work for them. Indeed, since the ABCs method focuses on a holistic approach, this multi-part article aims to permanently improve the style sense of those who are interested in increasing their passive value and ultimately their success with women. Moreover, keeping in mind the fact that very few of us are millionaires who are able to afford the likes of Armani suits and Ferragamo leather shoes, this series of articles will also address how to look like a million bucks while staying within a low budget.

Let's take it easy at first and get acquainted with some basic ideas/concepts of fashion that'll become building blocks for accumulating a new wardrobe that'll have the ladies complimenting you wherever you go...

1. FIT FIT FIT!!!

In my opinion, this is the most important element in making you look like a mature man of taste rather than a beer chugging college student. You can have a $5,000 Gucci/Armani suit and if the cut of the suit deviates from your body shape, you might as well donate it to Salvation Army. On the other hand, the right fit on an outfit will make you look like a million bucks even if you bought it from Goodwill (I certainly loved shopping at Goodwill for $10 blazers). You don't agree? The following example is pretty self explanatory:

Pay attention to how the cut of the blazer in the right runs smoothly along the shape of his silhouette. Specifically, notice how the high arm holes, the slim jacket sleeves, the closely fitting waist, and the slightly-leg-hugging suit pants all make him look significantly smarter, more energetic, and more in shape. Also, notice that his jacket sleeves stop right above the ball of his thumb. This, my brothers, is the power of fit. To achieve this effect, you should almost always take your clothes (especially blazers and suits)to a skilled tailor to make sure that every part of the outfit fits you like a glove. I have bought cheap jackets from stores like Goodwill and H&M and gotten them tailored, and had received tons of compliments and glances. I SIMPLY CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH ON THE IMPORTANCE OF FIT.

2. Color/Pattern!

The second most important element is the color/pattern of an outfit. This may be a more advanced subject and requires a more daring dresser to master. During the winter months, we mostly wear neutral colors such as gray and black. In the summer however, we should play around with this element and add in more eye-popping colorful items to our wardrobe. We humans are visual animals, and dynamic visual stimulants catch attention in a crowd. Consider the following:

Image

Notice how the light purple shirt complements the darker purple tie, and both of them contrasts strongly with the black/white pinstripe suit? The visual effect here is so much more powerful than a traditional black suit/white shirt/black tie outfit. Furthermore, the contrast between the dotted patterns on the tie and the stripped patterns on the suit gives off a playful and fun vibe. This...is a playboy outfit. With an outfit like this, it would be quite difficult to not stand out from the crowd of men with ill-fitting and boring clothes that are typically found even in high-end bars and lounges.

3. Texture

This aspect of clothes, in my opinion is the most subtle and advanced element. For the average well-dressed, texture comes down to comfort. During summer times, aim for light cotton, linen, and silk. These materials are light and make for easy breathing, allowing you to feel cool and refreshed, which is exactly the state that we want to be in while we open up the hot babes outside during day game or on outside patios at nighttime bar lounges.

Hopefully this gives you a little bit of insight on the basic elements of clothing, I'm planning on recommending some excellent summer pieces (shirts, jackets, pants/shorts) and where to buy them cheaply for my next installment...
