Hello guys
I am about to sign up for the NYC boot camp now that I have my finances taken care of.
But I want to manage my AA BEFORE signing up for it, so I don't waste my money, time and the instructor's time. So what exercises can I do to manage my AA
So far my progress has been like this:
I can be friendly towards people
I can make people laugh easily
I can easily chat up guys
But at my uni I am afraid to approach girls because of social consequences
I also have a tough time making new friends and getting them to hang out with me... even guys
Like I can have a great convo with people, and I'd lose it from there.
I also have difficulty about becoming outcome independent, for example there is this girl that I like at work and I have had some good convos with her but I just cant seem to ask her to do anything with me because of fear of rejection.
Any help based on the info given above would be sincerely appreciated and no doubt would help me prepare for the NYC bootcamp
Thanks and have a great day

acebingo,

One thing that I did in order to get my approach anxiety down was to say, "hi" to 5 people per day, every day, for 30 days. (I therefore said "hi" to 150 people).

This had the following benefits:

1. It allowed me to be outcome independent, because there was no outcome to be sought. I wasn't trying to converse with them, I didn't want anything from them, I just wanted to stop and say "hi."
2. It allowed me, after about the first 40 or 50 hi's to figure out how to work on my facial expressions. At first it was really nerve wracking because I didn't even have the confidence to say "hi." But after doing it so many times EVERY day, I started to feel very confident about saying "hi." With that part down, I started to experiment with my facial expressions and the way that I smiled.

Try it. I think you'll like it.

-William

Ace,

Hey I'm excited that you're signing up for the NY bootcamp, and also really proud of you for asking these questions.

Managing your AA is defiantly vital before the bootcamp, but from what you've written about yourself, it doesn't sound like you have approach anxiety, it sounds like you have closing anxiety, which is completely normal. This is something that can be easily taken care of during the bootcamp itself as most guys have it.

Things I would recommend for you to do before the bootcamp.

1. Go through the pre-bootcamp homework thoroughly, which you'll receive when you sign up.

2. Find a local paper, yelp.com or ask around, and bring a list of five restaurants in your area that you want to try and what you've heard of it.

3. Also bring a list of three activities that are coming up in future months, such as a festival, BBQ, kayaking trip, opening, or etc.

I'm looking forward to meeting you, as it sounds like you'll be a great student.

I've been offering to hang out with NYC people a ton over the last couple of months. NaturalErick has been coming out with me, and he's really been doing well in managing his AA more and more every time out. Like I've said, I can't promise to teach anything, but I am definitely willing to hang out, provide motivation, and do some approaches.
