A whole bunch of blowouts and fizzles, but it's good to write down. Joined by various alums.
Night 1 Table service. For me, the venue had only 7's and under w/ terrible ratio (yay SF!). Brutal, but had to make the most of it.
2-set in. Turn them both "You girls look like you know how to have fun!" "Thanks!" They close in and leave. Probably need to BT immediately on a dancefloor.
4-set: Introduce self, talk to guy, find out how they know each other. They're just chilling, friends. Target girl seems put off possibly because my energy is a little too high. I start bantering after introduction, position myself. I try to pull her to our table too soon without running CTs; get blown off with a pat on the shoulder, haha.
Asian girl pulls my tie and I'm now in a mixed 4 set. I make a comment about matching lipstick, and gesture that great minds think alike. It's loud and on the dancefloor; hesitating on isolation, and eject myself. d'oh. Banter. Spike. CTs. Isolate. Not that complicated!
Night 2 Bar w/ large outdoor patio: Slide over to the bar and use situational about boots. Get some serious shittesting with a hostile vibe ("where are your friends?" etc.); eventually I think it's pointless to continue and I eject. In retrospect my bodylanguage is hurting me; too much (unreciprocated) smiling on my part, uncalibrated with the energy level of the girl.
Ruby Skye: insanely loud. Wing opens a set, I come in but we get blown out hard. We bounce and go barhopping.
Dive bar: Super drunk dude opens me since we're wearing a similar-coloured tie. I roll with it and find myself in the middle of a large crowd -- turns out it's a company party. We get a picture taken together. Introduce myself to the cutest girl there; BLP and run a story about my tie. She's with her fiancee, who joins the conversation -- whoops, extract myself.
Night 3 Gay bar (cheap drinks = flooded with heteros haha): gsxr opens a 2(actually 4)-set. He picks one and the other 3 leave them alone; girls seem a lot more receptive at a gay bar. I approach another one. Turns out she's British, I launch off from there; she passes a CT (get a sip of her drink). At this point I realize we haven't found an isolation spot. Hesitate and the conversation dies down; her friend from behind her grabs her attention and they converse; I eject.
Wander the dancefloor, get eye contact but it's ridiculously crowded. Move around, kino turn, kamikaze opener. It's a loud dance floor, so I BT spike, have some short banter. Should have pushed for isolation, but she claims to be with her boyfriend and heads over to the bar.
The good: AA is decreasing, getting a steady amount of experience. Getting blown out, so at least I'm pushing things farther.
Things to fix: First and foremost focus on body language in set. I suspect I am leaning in; will focus on relaxed confidence (slower speech, lean back, slower movements) next time. Seeming too eager, I was coming off as phony, especially with direct openers. Whenever my A&B went well, I had trouble bridging to C. Will prepare a few more stories so it's easier to move the conversation. Need to BLP more. Also, find places WITH SEATS and where I can actually hear people who are screaming their names in my ear.
